What's it all about?

Updated: May 1, 2020

How many times have you been at your job and wondered why you're spending the majority of your time giving your all for someone else? It's the American Dream to be your own boss, right?

Several years ago, I went on my first ATV-riding vacation with my family and friends. We were staying in Pineville, WV in April. The weather was great, the mountains were beautiful and the trails were dusty. On our second day I announced to everyone that my "five year plan" was to move to WV and start a lodging business. "I'm going to call it Dusty Trails," I said. Everyone laughed...that would be great, they agreed.

Up until that point in my life, that vacation was the best I had ever been on...exhilarating, relaxing and carefree, all rolled into one. Not to mention, we had a great time as a family and it was inexpensive. Perfect.

Fast forward....the traffic in Northern Virginia was constantly at a stand-still, my husband and I were spending much more time at work than we were with our children. More houses were being built around us and we could no longer spend the weekends riding our ATVs. Life was changing, and not for the better.

In October 2019 we moved to West Virginia. My husband found a job doing what he likes to do, and I am embarking on the journey of a lifetime in the most beautiful place in the world, with the most wonderful people in the world, Southern West Virginia.

After the COVID-19 pandemic releases its grip on us all, I will be opening my first house in War, WV near the Warrior Trail for riders of the Hatfield-McCoy Trails to rent.

I'm not a gambler; I never even play the lottery, but I think it's a good bet that the American Dream of owning my own family business is going to work just fine!!
